SD1000
Comments:
- Pictures at 7MP are crisp and clear, even those of underwater and fast moving objects
- Camera shape is angular, the `box-and-circle` look, but corner edges may abrade fast
- Can make about 210 shots on one 90 minutes battery charging. But be wise to have a spare battery handy
- Downloading to computer is user-friendly for Macs or Windows
- Stitching photos to make a panoramic presentation is easy and simple
- Camera is handy to hold with one hand
- Some plastic parts are rather flimsy, and more of them than the older models

A550
Comments:
- Easy on power availability as it uses standard "AA" batteries, so may be cheaper
- Too small memory card (16MB), holds just 4 photos of highest resolution. Better carry extras or buy larger cards
- Has a built-in lens cover so no worry on lens caps
- Compact size makes it easy to hold, but placement of thumb sometimes problem, as it can cover the print/share button when holding the camera
- Tough hard plastic construction except for battery/memory compartment cover, which is rather flimsy
- There was no onscreen indicator if phototaking mode is tele/zoom or wide angle: you guess when shooting

- Its image stabilizer minimizes camera shake of novice photographers, producing clearer pictures (less blur)
- Easily identifies faces, adjusting to facial planes for clearer pictures, and avoiding focus errors when taking mixed (people and non-human) subject photos
- LCD monitor most accurate measured
- Shutter can stay open up to 15 seconds on manual mode for those night scenes
- Has warmer/brighter colors, and choice to `vivid` can be set

Comments:
- Can shoot films as fast as ISO 1600, which reduces movement blur in handheld shoots and low-light conditions
- Alloy construction is more rugged, size is easily pocketable, stylish in original `box-and circle` shape design
- Pictures look more natural in coloration, and in its movie option as well, despite some barely-noticeable purple discoloration at the edges
- Camera exposure is adjustable to different scene characteristics like beaches, fireworks, snow, etc.
- Two-tone color is very pleasing to the eye
- The speaker on the left side can be enhanced by a cupped hand to hear movie playback better

Pro Series
Comments:
- Ultra Sonic Motor is quiet when changing tele/wide angle modes even at movie mode
- Pictures are sharp and clear and have better color saturation or more vibrant colors
- High-contrast pictures have noticeable purple fringes
- Red-eye issues noticeable because of flash level
- 12x zoom gets you real close to distant subjects
- May be compact for its design but not easily pocketable. Fits in a coat pocket, though.

SD850
Comments:
- Can shoot fast images with ISO 1600 with automatic shifting to low-light conditions
- Softer box and circle design because of curved edges
- The scratch-resistant screen does not readily reflect light, ideal for viewing under bright lights or very bright days
- Shutter speed and lens opening settings are visible in LCD so reviewing shots can be made at playback.
- More movie-making choices including 1- or 2-second time lapse modes for time effect compositions
- 18 shooting modes challenge your creative for user-option shapes like stars, flowers, hearts, others
